Free Initial Advice:

If you are the subject of a fraud enquiry, investigation or prosecution contact one of our specialist team for free initial advice about your case. We can also discuss with you the most appropriate way of funding your defence.

Legal Aid:

In most cases before the Crown Court you will still be entitled to legal aid despite your income and your assets, although in some cases you may have to pay a contribution to your legal aid. We can advise you in detail as to how you stand. In the most serious allegations of fraud, only a small number of firms that are members of the VHCC (Very High Cost Case) Panel can defend clients under the Legal Aid scheme. Our firm is one of these. Legal Aid is also available for representation during interview at the police station. Again, this is available irrespective of your means, however there are certain restrictions applied and in some cases clients prefer to pay privately for police station representation.

Insurance:

Many business insurance policies and indeed personal or household policies for insurance can provide cover for legal fees as a result of a criminal investigation or prosecution. We would advise you to check the terms of any policies that you may have so that we can properly advise you as to the most appropriate method of funding your case. We are happy to go through your policy with you and advise you on what is covered.

Private Retainer:

There are certain instances where legal aid is not available. This applies to most investigations or proceedings before a regulatory body. Some clients prefer to fund their case privately in order to ensure the availability of a particular lawyer or expert. For example, representation by Queens Counsel (QC) is not always available under legal aid. Our fees are always competitive and we are happy to discuss these with you and if necessary arrange a payment plan.

Our Charges:

Our charges are made up of our fees for the legal work and ‘disbursements’. Disbursements are costs related to your matter that are payable to other people, such as barrister’s fees. We sometimes handle the payment of the disbursements on your behalf to ensure a smoother process. Where VAT is referred to below, please note that this will be charged at the applicable rate, which is currently set at 20%. Your case will be handled by a trusted member of our experienced litigation team. We have qualified solicitors in the team as well as experienced paralegals who specialise in the particular area of law. Once we know who will be handling your case, we will introduce you to them and provide you with full details of their background and qualifications. Regardless of who is working on your case the matter, will be supervised by either DOJ Justice Elliott Khan  (PQE: 12 years) or  Jamal Khan  (PQE: 11 years).

Immigration Cases:

The immigration cases at this firm are dealt with by the following persons:

1. DOJ Justice Elliott Khan;

2. Jamal Khan;

3. Andrew Antonio;

The immigration department conduct much of their work on an hourly rate basis. However, many clients prefer to fix their costs at the outset of a matter with fixed fees. Our fixed fees are based on our experience of the average amount of time it takes to complete a particular type of case. We have listed our hourly rates and fixed fees by case type below. The fixed fees detailed here are for an average case. If your case is unusual in nature or requires extra work, such as gathering unusual evidence from abroad, the fixed fees listed here may need to be altered before we agree to act for you. Complex cases such as Asylum and Judicial Review vary in cost and we are unable to provide fixed costs for this type of case on this page. Should you require assistance with this type of case you should contact a member of the immigration team to discuss your case. Our lawyers will provide you with an estimate of likely costs and a quote for work done using fixed fees. The costs detailed here do not include VAT or disbursements. Disbursements are expenses that we pay on your behalf including but not limited to Barrister’s fees, experts’ reports, travel expenses, Home Office fees and Court/Tribunal fees. We will only incur disbursements on your behalf with your consent.
